These are among the most dramatic trees in the Gardens.  Their massive spreading roots provide a playground for children who can imagine pixies fairies and goblins hiding amongst them.

The tree, Ficus Macrophylla is a native of the rain forests of coastal northern NSW and Queensland.  It has large glossy green leaves and a fleshy fruit that contains tiny white flowers.  Planted in the Scoborio/Guilfoyle period, they are well over 100 years old.
